What It Is

The Simplest Solution for a Straight Staircase

A straight stairlift runs a motorised rail along a single uninterrupted staircase. The rail bolts to the stair treads. No wall anchors, no structural changes. The padded seat carries you smoothly from floor to floor at the touch of a button.

Western Stairlifts installs the Harmar Pinnacle, a US-built lift with a swivel seat, retractable seatbelt, and two remotes so the chair is always where you need it.

Installation is typically complete in a single morning. We leave your home clean and your stairlift ready to ride.

  • Swivel seat for safe on/off at every landing
  • Adjustable seat height and armrests
  • Automatic obstruction sensors
  • Battery backup keeps you moving during outages

Is It Right For You?

A Straight Stairlift Fits One Type of Staircase

If your stairs run in a single uninterrupted line from bottom to top, with no turns and no mid-flight landings, a straight stairlift is the fastest, most affordable option available. If you have a curve or landing, we also carry curved stairlift options.

Single-Run Stairs

Your staircase goes straight from bottom to top with no turns, curves, or landings in the middle.

Standard Staircase Width

Works on staircases as narrow as 28 inches. Most residential stairs qualify easily.

Any Weight Range

Standard models to 300 lbs, heavy-duty models to 400 lbs. We confirm the right fit during your evaluation.

Stairs with a Turn or Landing

This requires a curved stairlift with a custom-bent rail. We install those too.

Not sure which applies to your staircase? Our free evaluation will tell you exactly.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a stairlift cost?
Cost varies by model and your specific home. The free in-home evaluation gives you an exact quote with no obligation. We don't list a price because every installation is custom. Staircase length, model, and any add-ons all factor in.
Does insurance or Medicare cover it?
Standard Medicare Part B does not cover stairlifts. Some VA programs and state Medicaid waivers may offer assistance. Our team can point you toward available resources during your evaluation.
How long does installation take?
Most straight stairlift installations take 2 to 4 hours. You'll have a working lift before lunch, with your stairs back to normal use the same day.
What if I lose power?
Harmar Pinnacle lifts include battery backup. The system keeps running through power outages so you're never stranded on the stairs.
Can it be removed if I no longer need it?
Yes. The lift bolts to the stair treads, not the walls. It uninstalls cleanly with no lasting damage to your home. Many families have us install a lift and later remove it when their circumstances change.
What if my stairs have a turn or landing?
A straight stairlift won't work on a curved or landing staircase. Take a look at our curved stairlift options or schedule an evaluation and we'll confirm which solution fits your home.
